At St Teilo's, every year on Christmas Eve the church holds a D.I.Y crib service. This is a popular occasion on which you can turn up dressed up as anything from the story, an angel, a wise man, a shepherd or even a camel. For a few, the disciples have been taking this a bit further - by instead of just having the characters walk up the aisle to a hymn and stand in front of the congregation until the end of the service, we would add in speech, give people lines to say, make a few twists, add in extra bits and all sorts of different things which give the performance a bit more showbiz, a bit more interest. In other words, we don't like to bore the congregation with the same thing every year. Obviously, we can't change the story line but what we can do is add a bit of 21st century Christmas at the start, maybe at the end too.
This year, we are going to focus on Christmas around the world. We're gong to have a scene from a selection of different countries, and then show you the real Christmas - show you how it all started (i.e. The Nativity) we might even do something at the very end. But time is tight, and we have to begin soon, so we will be giving the blog a sneak peek of some extracts from the script, this week. Very exciting. And we promise to have a review on the actual performance at the end.
Thanks
